Kate then draws out the bones of the fish by identifying the general areas of causes by asking Paul:

“Which of the following general areas of causes would be most appropriate?”

1. Website design, marketing, costs, roll-out
2. Department needs, personnel, budgets
3. Venue, people, information, resources/tools
4. Template design, timeline, customers

These causes directly impact the stated problem, or effect, of unproductive meetings.  The other causes might be used when trying to identify causes of problems with regard to the task of the committee, but for Paul’s purposes, he must first establish a functioning committee.
